The primary problem with having an older RV is that there is always something needing repair. The secondary problem is finding out what else breaks when you go to fix whatever needed repair in the first place!

Igor’s propane regulator decided to start leaking. They can’t be repaired, so we needed a new one. Of course it’s been on there for 33 years and one of the fittings refused to budge. So I ended up having to cut the rubber hose that is part of the fitting.
Finding a new regulator wasn’t much of a problem. They make a suitable replacement, and I found one on Amazon Mexico. It will arrive tomorrow!
The hose might be a problem. But we’ll figure something out.

With the stove and oven not useable, we did the twenty minute walk into the town of El Tule to find some lunch. It’s never a hardship when you have to go out to eat in Mexico! We found some delicious quesabirrias… a type of taco with cheese and very tender meat.

As I said yesterday, the El Rancho RV Park is busier than we expected it to be this early in the season. Five or six European rigs, with people from Germany, Switzerland and France. Also a few Canadian rigs from Quebec, and two from the United States.

This is a nice campground, and we can see why some people stay quite a while. The nightly rate with full hookups and stable 15 amp electricity is 350 pesos ($26.50 CAD, $19 USD) per night, so it’s a very reasonable price for a place with a clean swimming pool and clean washrooms and showers. And of course they also have weekly and monthly rates.
Fortunately, there’s a kitchen as well with a microwave and a dual electric hotplate that we can use to make some basic food because of our propane problem.

We were sitting out playing backgammon and having a glass of wine when Ruth spotted this big Tetrio Sphinx Caterpillar. It was about four or five inches long. It will eventually become a large grey sphinx moth.
